Charlie has served as both a public defender and a private attorney over the last 21 years, and he continues to devote significant amounts of time to pro-bono representation of marginalized people,

including people who have been incarcerated, people who have been homeless, immigrants and transgender people. Reclaim Chicago is committed to transforming local legal systems from drivers of mass incarceration to government entities that respect the rights of poor people and people of color. Judges have tremendous power and discretion in bail, sentencing and other decisions that deeply impact people’s lives. By helping to elect judges who place the highest priority on the rights of people facing charges, Reclaim Chicago can play an important role in ending mass incarceration in Cook County. Charlie, his wife and three sons live in the Hamlin Park area.
